Mario Kart: Double Dash!!!

My name is Anthony Payton and I’m here with another nostalgia review, where I go talk about classic video games in my childhood. Today, I got one of my favorite video games: Mario Kart: Double Dash!!! This game was released in November 2003 for the Nintendo GameCube. Mario Kart: Double Dash is considered one of the best games for the GameCube next to Super Mario Sunshine and Super Smash Bros: Melee.

One of the newest features they added to Double Dash is using two characters at the same time. This is very fun when playing with family or friends by teaming up with each other. Another feature they added is every character has their own special item. For example, Mario and Luigi can use fireballs. While most fans would say Peach and Daisy has the worst item, I would say Baby Mario and Baby Luigi has the worst with Chain Chomp. It’s hard to control  escpecially on hard tracks in Special Cup. However, the worst item in the game is the Fake Item Box. I don’t how does this item anybody because it doesn’t look like a regular item box so it’s easily avoidable. For the gameplay, this game is one of the funniest to play within the series. During the release, I will say it was the best Mario Kart. The game modes that are included are Grand Prix, Battle Mode, and Time Trial. In Grand Prix, there are four levels: 50cc, 100cc, 150cc, and Mirror. In 150cc and Mirror, the heavyset characters such as Bowser and Donkey Kong become challenging to beat with their weight and speed. The hardest track in the game in my opinion is Bowser Castle.

In that track, I have a hard time winning because I can’t drift well in the game and the track has a lot of turns that requires good drifting. Also, with my luck, I always get hit by the randow fireballs even when i try move away from it.  Rainbow Road is hard but I can win in the track easily.

Battle Mode is another fun game mode with Balloon Battle being my favorite. My least favorite battle track in the game is Cookie Land because it’s too large to have a fun battle mode.

Mario Kart: Double Dash still hold up to this very date. As I stated previously, this game is still one of the best in the series. If you still have a GameCube or Wii and you want to have a gaem night with family and friends, I would recommend this game

Rating: 9.5/10
