FIFA 17 Review: Is it Worth It?

My name is Anthony Payton and here’s my review of FIFA 17. I will start by saying this is one of the best sports games of this year. From the new engine and “The Journey” game mode, this game packs a lot of great features. So let’s talk about it.

Presentation: A+

With the new Frostbite engine, players look great. The models look great during cutscenes  and in-game. The commentary is always good with Martin Tyler and Alan Smith who have good reactions if you commit a foul or score a goal.

This is why Madden need to use Frostbite engine because it works with sports games. The gameplay on FIFA 17 feels wonderful. I feel that I have full control of the players and not depended on animations. They are new changes in gameplay such as controls for penalty kicks. It’s not difficult but different so it will take time to get used to.

Game Modes:

The biggest game mode in this game is The Journey. The Journey is story mode based on the character named Alex Hunter. You play as him from ten years old to professional. I like this game mode more than NBA 2k17. One of the reasons is I like how that you upgrade your player’s attributes by doing good in specific drills. In 2K, you have this option but it’s useless because majority of players buy their attributes to get upgrade quickly. Also, they story in FIFA is more relatable and have more control on your player’s personality. You can see the process of becoming a starter on the team and I like this because I can know what I need to do to get the starting position. Ultimate Team is pretty much the same as last year so nothing new. Other game modes like tournament and mini games are fun to play with friends.

Overall score: 9/10

This is a great game. I would put this one of the best sports games of the year. If you’re not a soccer fan, I would recommend to try this game.
